Bill Cosby is taking action against seven of the women who have accused him of sexual assault or misconduct. On Monday, the 78-year-old actor filed a defamation suit against Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie, according to his lawyer Monique Presley. In the suit, Cosby claims the women have made “malicious, opportunistic and false and defamatory accusations of sexual misconduct against him.” He also claims each defendant “knowingly published false statements and accusations.”
“What can I say, except that those women can’t keep their promises,” the veteran comedian told the media. “In the world where I grew up, you stand by your word no matter what. I mean, we can talk about this and that, you can ask me about whether or not everything they say really happened, but the fact to the matter is – they’re liars. It’s as simple as that.”
Asked to elaborate, Cosby said: “Don’t play dumb now, you know full well what I’m talking about. You can’t ask a man for some rough lovin’ and then pretend like you didn’t want it. And if that wasn’t enough, I’m being sued for doing only what I was asked, nothing more, nothing less.”
Presley added that “it is hypocritical to act like a person in need, only to turn your other face around when you get what you’re after. It seems to me that some of them, if not all, were after some dark chocolate, if you know what I mean, but then repented after they got it. And logically, the next step was denial and an exit strategy, which, unfortunately for Mr. Cosby, entailed ruining the stellar reputation of an artist.”
The comedian added: “They promised not to tell a soul about what happened, and now this comes along. I mean, Jesus, how about some integrity, ladies? Oh right. I just remembered – you had none when we were gettin’ down. So, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Besides, you know what they say – once you go black, you never go back.”
The defendants named in Cosby’s countersuit are just a few of the more than 50 women who have come forward with allegations of sexual assault or misconduct that span the last 30 years. While Cosby’s lawyers have denied the allegations and no criminal charges have ever been filed, it was previously revealed that Cosby testified under oath that he bought Quaaludes with the intention of giving them to women he intended to have sex with.
