Carson: “Biblically, All Leaders Had To Prove Their Health Before God Let Them Bully The People”

Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who is now a surrogate for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, said on Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that both Trump and Hillary Clinton should release their medical records, calling both “elderly.” Both Trump and Clinton only released limited information about their health in 2015. Still, the Trump campaign has been pushing the notion that Clinton is physically unfit to be president. Trump is 70 and Clinton is 68. They are the two oldest individuals to face off as the nominees of two major parties in a presidential election.

“And this is something that needs to be done like, right now,” Carson argued. “This is important for many reasons, the most important being the trust of the general public. Now, speaking as a citizen of the United States, let’s abstract the fact that I too have ran for president and the fact that I’m a retired physician, speaking as your Average Joe, as a plain American, I mean, I don’t want the presidential candidate I vote for to suffer a heart attack or something from the thrill of learning he’s won the election. I mean, what kind of situation would that be? Or worse – what if we accidentally nuke North Korea or Russia because of the fact that they had a seizure during their afternoon nap and reached for the phone but hit the launch button instead?”

He added, “Those are just two options out of literally thousands that could very well become a reality if our president is, in fact, at risk of a medical condition they’re attempting to keep secret. However, there’s also a possibility of not being able to run very fast because of old age combined with a medical impairment. What if we’re the target of a nuclear attack and our president has to be carried to the bunker by Secret Service agents instead of running to it on his own two feet? I mean, I’m not targeting anyone here, but it’s common knowledge that women are incapable or running as fast as men. Just sayin’.”

“And I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of what the Bible has to say about all of this,” Carson continued in the same tone. “I don’t know how many people are aware of this, but Biblically speaking, there are many examples throughout history of leaders having to prove their health in order for God to allow them to bully their own people. Are we to ignore the word of God? I have to say, we’ve certainly been doing a good job of it as a country up until now. But hey, why stop, right? Let’s just carry on doing whatever the heck we want to, because we rule this planet and we fear no one.”

“But, I’m warning you, as a man of science who believes in God – we need to stop and think about what we’re doing. We need those medical records released as soon as possible so that we know what we’re dealing with. To be quite honest, I don’t feel comfortable voting for Hillary Clinton because, well, she’s almost 70 and women are at greater risk of being diagnosed with something terminal than men. So, in my book, if neither of the candidates does the sensible thing and release their records, I mean, my money’s on Trump. Seriously. Because, what’s he going to get, testicular cancer? He already has kids – he’ll be fine. Though, he might be laughed at for walking funny. But, you can’t win ’em all,” Carson concluded.
