LOS ANGELES — Chris Brown fans are flocking to defend the R&B singer after prosecutors charged him with driving without a valid license and a hit-and-run on Tuesday.
On Twitter, where Brown has nearly 13 million followers, supporters came out to publicly show their support. @RightByHim posted, “I pray @chrisbrown gets through this. Nobody knows what the car said to him to make him have 2 react. Can only push a man so far #TeamBreezy” Team Breezy being the collective name of Brown’s fans.
“Cars talk mad shit until you step to them. That’s what you get, cars, for hating on #TeamBreezy and my boy @chrisbrown,” said @PrincessBreezy.
According to prosecutors, Brown rear-ended another vehicle then allegedly left the scene of the accident without producing his driver’s license or proof of insurance. In response to the charges, Brown changed his background profile picture on Twitter to a photo of the seemingly undamaged vehicle.
Not one to stay quiet amidst controversy, Brown indicated that he regrets what happened but fell short of offering a sincere apology, explaining that he still loves the car. “When I look at [the picture of the car] now, it’s just like, wow, like, I can’t believe that that actually happened,” he said in an interview with CNN. “It was sort of like Romeo and Juliet, especially how Romeo is mentally and emotionally undeveloped, then Juliet is attacked by Romeo’s equally retarded fans for being a victim. Team Breezy.”
