Washington, D.C. – Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, says Trump’s position on building a wall between the United States and Mexico is firm – despite evidence to the contrary. Trump has insisted that he will build a “great, great wall” and that he will get Mexico to pay for it. But when the candidate visited Mexico this week, he said he and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto did not discuss who would pay for the wall. However, Peña Nieto said they did, and that he emphasized Mexico would not be footing the bill.
“I’m shocked and appalled that you would take the word of a Mexican over that of the United States Republican presidential candidate,” Conway told ABC News. “If there is one politician in this country who has proven time and time again that he always speaks the truth no matter what, it’s Donald Trump. So you don’t have to believe him and you most certainly aren’t required to believe me, but if he says he’ll build a wall and if he says he’ll make Mexico pay for it, you better believe it will get done.”
Conway then went on to reveal that the initial plans for the border wall, affectionately called “The Trump Wall” by the man himself, included building a high wall that would surround the entire United States from all four sides, rendering the country isolated from the rest of the world by a physical barrier. This would be the first such case in history. “And not only that – I can tell you that the Trump Wall, which is to be built along the United States-Mexico border, is just the beginning. Since Mr. Trump is certain of its effectiveness in keeping illegal Mexican immigrants out, he has moved forward with designs for extending the wall,” Conway said.
Asked to elaborate further, Trump’s campaign manager said that the purpose of the newly announced extension of the border wall is meant to “protect the United States from all sorts of dangers, both man-made and caused by nature.” “Illegal immigration and Syrian refugees and Islamic terrorism is one thing; but when you couple that with natural disasters, like global warming, the rise in sea levels and hurricanes, that then becomes a formidable threat and one that should not be taken lightly,” she said.
“That’s why Mr. Trump has decided that his legacy as the President of the United States will be immortalized in the safety he will bestow upon Americans and America. It is truly a great dream of an even greater man; a dream that will very soon become reality. That reality will be a safe America that will not allow illegal immigration in any case, except for maybe when it comes to foreign top models,” Conway said. She would not give out any technical details or present any schematics of the wall to add credibility to her statements, but she did mention another threat.
“And don’t think for a second Mr. Trump is going to forget the insults and persecution the media has been putting him through since the beginning of his presidential campaign. I’m not allowed to disclose any details, but let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised if a certain number of reporters find themselves on the other side of the wall once it’s completed. You know, to report on how great the thing looks from the outside,” she concluded.
