President Donald Trump has fired FBI director James Comey, CNN has announced. He sent a letter to Comey, saying the decision to terminate his position was made on the advice of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Along with Trump’s letter to Comey, the Washington Post also released letters from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein about Comey. “Based on my evaluation, and for the reasons expressed by the Deputy Attorney General in the attached memorandum, I have concluded that a fresh start is needed at the leadership of the FBI,” Sessions wrote in his letter to the president.
In an interview with portal KnowMyRepublican.com, former Trump senior adviser Kellyanne Conway stated that President Trump’s decision was “justified, in addition to being a very smart strategic move.” “We’re in a situation when you’ve got conspiracy theories left and right, and one would be wise to debunk the lies and only react to hard facts,” she said. “And if you take one look at these facts, you’ll realize that James Comey was anything but a person who did the job of FBI Director in a good way. Letting him go is not only an opportunity to refresh the FBI, but also a strong signal to any potential disruptors of the current situation in the country.”
Conway continued, “Think about this for a moment. If you were Donald Trump, what would you have done? You see very clearly that the head of one of the most important law enforcement agencies in the country is intentionally refusing to act on the situation regarding Hillary Clinton’s emails, not to mention he’s likely investigated the president himself on more than one occasion. Do you tolerate such behavior or not? Of course not, you fire the person. As to why Comey kept refusing to deal with the email thing, I really don’t know. I do have my opinion on the matter, but I don’t think it’s appropriate to state it on such an occasion.”
Asked to elaborate, Conway stated that Comey was “a closeted Democrat” and that he didn’t deserve the position of FBI director because of it. “Like I said, this is just my opinion and nothing more, but I believe Comey to be a closeted Democrat fanatic and that that’s why he kept sabotaging Hillary Clinton’s email investigation. I don’t know if he was on her payroll or not, but I think this country has too many Democrat fanatics already and we don’t need one of them to be in a position where he’s able to influence such important matters. I mean, who knows where he’d have ended up if he’d been allowed to do his thing.”
“Ultimately, closeted Democrats are sort of like a mix between suicide bombers and gays: the signs are all there lurking just beneath the surface, but you keep ignoring them until it’s too late. Luckily, in this instance, a very bad man was removed from a high-ranking position before he did any real damage. As for how the FBI will proceed, we should let the president pick an adequate replacement. If anything, I’m sure it’ll be good practice for when he has to appoint the next Supreme Court Justice,” Conway concluded.
