Earhardt: “True Believers Don’t Need To Vote, Pray And God Will Pick The Right Candidate”

Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt wondered recently if the best way to deal with the 2016 presidential race was to “pray about it and God will pick the right candidate.” On Tuesday’s edition of Fox & Friends, Earnhardt pressed The View host Candace Cameron Bure about the role of religion in selecting a candidate. “I know your faith is important to you as it is to many of us,” Earnhardt said. “Do you feel like in this election, we just pray about it and give it to God? And God’s going to pick the right candidate?” “I don’t know who I’m going to vote for at this point,” Bure insisted. “But I will pray about the decision of who I’ll vote for.”

“No, seriously, though,” Earnhardt continued pushing, “I’m thinking that this time we just let things go, just sit back and relax. Because, here’s what I’ve noticed in these past couple of elections: the more people struggle to make the right decision and choose the candidate they think is best for this country, the more they end up regretting their choice a couple years into the presidency. I know a ton of people who couldn’t be happier when Obama became president in 2008, and those same people couldn’t stop cursing themselves just several years later. I’m not really sure whether that has to do with ourselves or our presidents, but I’m starting to see a pattern here.”

She added, “So, I reckon we let go of the reins this time. I mean, God has a pretty good history of making the right choices. If you look back, even when we thought he’d made the wrong decision, somehow it would always turn out alright. Take Sodom and Gomorrah, for example. That was a real hoot, wasn’t it? Well, we started over and things were better for a while, at least. So, why not put our faith in the Big Guy once again? Makes perfect sense. All we gotta do is pray our butts off and we’re golden. Think of prayer as ‘future-election’ currency. It worked for the Canadians. Just look at that hunk of a Prime Minister they’ve got going on right now.”

“In fact, let’s put it this way – if you consider yourself to be a true believer, you don’t need to vote. Just let God choose between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump,” Earnhardt argued. She also added that “though it sounds highly unlikely that God would choose someone like Trump” to be the next President, it’s still a “better choice than an imported half-Cuban like Cruz.” “We’ve never had a beef with the Scottish, right? Right. On the other hand, whenever someone says ‘Cuba,’ to me that sounds dangerously close to ‘Mexico.’ And, well, we just can’t have that, can we? Plus, Trump’s not that bad-looking, either, for a 70-year-old Labrador-hairstyle billionaire. Don’t vote, people. Let God steer us in the right direction.”
