Former House Speaker New Gingrich on Wednesday blamed the shooting at the Republican baseball practice on Democrats who spout “vulgarities,” among other things. Talking with Fox News, Gingrich pointed fingers at left-wing “hysteria” that he says has exploded ever since President Donald Trump’s election last fall, as evidenced by Kathy Griffin’s latest stunt in which she held up a likeness of Trump’s severed head. “The intensity on the left is very real,” Gingrich said. “Whether it’s a so-called comedian holding up the president’s head in blood, or it’s right here, in New York City, a play that shows the president being assassinated. Or it’s Democratic leading national politicians who are so angry they have to use vulgarity because they can’t find any common language.”
He continued, “I believe this country has reached a point where, just like in the old times, the people are angry with the king because of jealousy or whatever that they can’t stand the thought of him any longer. The sad part, I think, in all of this is, Donald Trump didn’t steal the presidency. He didn’t do anything illegal, he didn’t pay off people to vote for him, he did nothing of the sort. He won the election fair and square because everything about him was better compared to Hillary Clinton. The same people that elected him are the people that are now screaming about what a lousy president they think he is. So, we need to ask ourselves: is Donald Trump the root of the problem? No, he hasn’t done anything wrong. Then, by the process of elimination, the people are the problem because they seem to not know what they want.”
“That being said,” he added, “the Democrats are, in their infinite wisdom and insightfulness, using those misguided sentiments that are brewing across the nation to fuel hatred for Donald Trump even more. They persistently boast with so-called democratic values and processes, when in reality, they’re 10-times worse than anything they’ve ever accused the GOP of doing. Furthermore, they’re entirely to blame for the baseball shooting. Additionally, we mustn’t ignore the fact that Bernie Sanders has been the most outspoken in blocking the citizens of America from buying more guns to protect themselves. In reality, no matter how you look at it, Sanders is part of a large-scale conspiracy where he’s blocking people from protecting themselves while the Democrats are causing violence that is hurting people instead of protecting them.”
“For the millionth time – this country needs more guns, not less. The problem that the left wing has with that is, when people have more guns, they’re less dependent on the so-called protection from the government, which up until recently consisted of them mostly. Now, we’re in charge and we want our people to be safer; tragedies like the baseball shooting just go to show that Sanders and the Democrats are wrong to block more freedom in buying guns. As we’ve seen these last few months, leftist violence is on the rise and the people of America – especially those who favor the GOP – need to be able to feel safe. We’ll keep working on giving them more guns, but as far as the shooting is concerned, it’s mostly on Sanders, I don’t care what anyone says,” Gingrich concluded.
