Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) accused Fox News host Megyn Kelly of being “fascinated by sex” on Tuesday, after snapping at her for asking about the women who have accused Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump of sexual assault. The exchange on “The Kelly File” was a snapshot of how the Trump campaign is attempting to spin allegations of sexual assault by more than a dozen accusers against their candidate. First: deny them. Next: lash out at the questioner for asking. Finally: pivot to former President Bill Clinton.
“I’m sorry, but I have to ask – what is it with you and your fascination with sex?” Gingrich asked Kelly at one point. “It’s like everything that’s come out of your mouth during this so-called interview tonight is sex-related. I’m not sure if you have some sort of problem or not, but you sound obsessed with it. Maybe you should go see a therapist or something. Or perhaps check into rehab. Because, I’m not being bias here, but I don’t get this anywhere else and I have tons of interviews on a daily basis.”
After attempting to explain that she doesn’t have “a problem with sex,” Kelly went on to argue that the only reason she’s even bringing up the issue is because Donald Trump was recorded bragging about sexually assaulting women and getting away with it simply because he’s famous. “There you go again – you must have some kind of disorder or medical condition. I’m serious, you really ought to have that looked at, Kelly. I’m not joking. Because you kind of sound like a nympho and as attractive as you are, I’m honestly disgusted by it,” the former House Speaker said.
“Because, in case you’re not able to hear yourself at this point, let me just paint the picture what you sound like right now, okay? You: ‘blah blah blah sex, blah sex, blah blah, Donald Trump sex.’ Me: ‘Why are you so obsessed with sex, Megyn? Give me a reasonable explanation.’ You: ‘Well, blah blah sex, because sex sex Donald Trump sexual predator. And of course, blah, sex.’ That’s literally how you sound to everybody listening to you right now,” Gingrich said very seriously.
Despite the Fox News host’s attempts to stand up for herself, Gingrich just kept on coming. “Seriously, are you a nymphomaniac, Megyn? Because I don’t blame you if you are, it could happen to anyone. I’m just saying, it’s like with any other addiction – you have to work at it, but it’s completely curable. I volunteer to get you to a good rehab center; we have some pretty amazing ones down in Georgia. They’ll fix you up so go you’ll want to become a nun by the time you finish the program. Like, they will genuinely help you stop thinking about sex so much you’ll go and have your thingy sewn up, you know – as a precaution. In case you ever regress,” the former House Speaker concluded.
