While campaigning alongside Ted Cruz recently in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Glenn Beck said that the Texas senator’s campaign is a continuation of the Tea Party movement’s push to defend the Constitution. “I am so proud to stand with you Cruz supporters because we are the ones that really started this revolution,” he said. Because of his supporters’ dedication to the Constitution, Beck said, “our guy has the best chance of winning, because we have the Almighty God on our side!” Beck has previously said that God is raising up Cruz to be president, while Cruz’s father has repeatedly claimed that his son is God’s choice to be president.
During an interview on Sunday, Beck also said that “the Democratic Party is a lair of pushovers and gutless idiots, which has been more than obvious in the past 8 years of the Obama Administration.” He added that the Democrats “should be shut down completely,” as well as that America “needs to return to the Golden Age of politics and economy,” which according to him, existed during President Ronald Reagan. And when asked to comment on the death of President Reagan’s wife, former First Lady Nancy Reagan, who died Sunday at the age of 94, he replied: “That’s two in a row. Now I’m starting to worry.”
Asked to elaborate, the conservative radio host stated that “after Justice Scalia, Nancy Reagan is the second conservative power-figure God has taken from us. And since He does everything for a reason, I’ll tell you what it was this time. Both Ted Cruz and I feel that Nancy Reagan was one of the most conservative and intelligent people that ever had the privilege to set foot in the White House. This move was obviously God’s way of reminding Americans how great we used to live throughout the 80’s. We ended the Cold War, the Soviet Union broke apart and we invaded Granada. Those are all victories of American foreign policy, as well as diplomacy. And you want to know why we were that successful? Because President Reagan was a conservative Republican and because he had a beautiful wife.”
“And make no mistake – that was the Golden Age of our country,” he said. “Everybody knows what kind of influence Nancy Reagan had over her husband, as well as that she’s partly responsible for the kind of restoration of conservative values we experienced throughout the 1980’s. So, to translate God’s message: ‘If you are a Republican, if you are conservative and if you have a beautiful wife, you should and you must become President of the United States.’ Now, given these criteria, I’m not really sure how Obama got the job, but it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that Ted Cruz also fulfills all three of these superbly, which means that he is going to go down in history as the man who brought back prosperity for America. But, just to be sure, I say we enact a law that shuts down the Democrats permanently. Better safe than sorry, I always say.”
