The ISIS terrorist attack in Paris might not have happened if French laws allowed for more people to carry guns, Donald Trump suggested at a recent rally in Beaumont, Texas. “The toughest gun laws in the world: Paris,” Trump said during a campaign rally of about 8,000 people in a community center. “If they were allowed to carry – it would have been a much, much different situation.”
His comments come as the presidential candidates have begun responding to the Paris attack. Trump attempted to use his critics’ attacks against him to help his supporters envision him as commander-in-chief. Were he elected, Trump predicted, ISIS terrorists would say, “This guy is crazy – we give up.”
“You know, a lot of people out there say that I’m not a nice guy,” the billionaire real estate mogul stated. “But even though that’s not true, here’s what I have to say about that: I don’t give a rat’s ass what other people think. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: political correctness is what’s killing this country. It’s been the cause of America’s demise for years and if we don’t make some changes real soon, we’re looking at a very bleak future.”
“For example, terrorism has been the worst thing that has happened to this country…well, other than Obama, that is,” the media magnate also said, causing heaps of laughter and cheers from the crowd. “And France is another country that has the same problem as America, only we are now in a situation to learn from their mistakes. I mean, I sympathize with those poor people who were killed and injured, but that’s what happens when you forbid the citizens of a country to carry weapons to protect themselves. It’s as simple as putting two and two together.”
He also added: “And that’s precisely why nothing like that will ever happen in the United States. Even though some of us are not content with the current gun laws in the country, I can tell you that they’re awesome compared to what France has been enforcing. And then there’s 9/11. So, make no mistake – ISIS terrorists would not enjoy their time in America one bit. And not because the police or military would be onto them, but because the average American is more than sufficiently equipped to send them back to whatever desert hut they crawled out of.”
